Guitar Basics     Grade:      9      10      11      12

Prerequisite:  Must own an acoustic guitar             Credit: 1

Guitar basics is a course designed for students who DO NOT PLAY THE GUITAR.  No prior knowledge of the guitar is necessary.  The class will focus on music literacy and basic guitar skills that include Strumming techniques, picking techniques, basic chords and advanced chords.  Students will play a variety of musical styles, including pop, country, blues, jazz, folk and classical.  Students who are proficient guitar players should meet with Mrs. Blackwell individually instead of registering for this class. Students must plan to schedule this A/B rotator class for the full year (fall and spring semesters).
