EHS Graduation Requirements

 

EVANSTON HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

 

GUIDELINES FOR SUCCESSFUL PROGRESS TOWARDS GRADUATION

To be a student in good standing the following guidelines should be met to ensure a student is on track for graduation.

                                                                                                                                                           

LANGUAGE ARTS - 4 Credits

Each student is required to successfully complete one credit of English at each grade level.

 

SOCIAL STUDIES - 3 Credits

Each student is required to successfully complete World History/Geography at the 10th grade level (1 credit), U.S. History at the 11th grade level (1 credit) and Political Science/Econ at the 12th grade level (1 credit).

 

MATHEMATICS - 3 Credits

Each student is required to successfully complete three math credits.  1 credit must be Integrated Math 1 or Algebra 1 or equivalent (Algebra 1A and 1B), 1 credit must be Integrated Math 2 or Geometry and 1 credit must be Integrated Math 3 or Algebra 2 or Quantitative Reasoning.

 

SCIENCE - 3 Credits

Each student is required to enroll in Physical Science at the 9th grade level (1 credit), Biology at the 10th grade level (1 credit), plus earn one additional credit.

 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION - 1 Credit

Each student is required to enroll in Physical Conditioning at the 9th grade level (½ credit), plus earn an additional ½ credit.

Exemptions from the physical education requirements can be granted only if based upon written verification of need to do so from a licensed medical doctor, chiropractor or osteopath and must be approved in advance by the high school administration.

 

HEALTH - ½ Credit

Each student is required to enroll in Health at the 9th grade level.

 

FINE ARTS - 1 Credit

Each student is required to successfully complete 1 credit of a Fine Arts course for graduation. 

 

CAREER/TECHNICAL - 1 Credit

Each student is required to successfully complete 1 credit of a Career/Technical course for graduation.

 

FOREIGN LANGUAGE - 1 Credit

Each student is required to successfully complete 1 credit of a Foreign Language course.

 

ADVOCACY REQUIREMENTS - ¼ credit must be earned each year - 1 Credit

 

ELECTIVES - 10.5 Credits

 

TOTAL FOR GRADUATION - 29 Credits
