good morning age doing hey my name is mr. Lester and I'm the principal of the high school mr. color and assistant principal we wanted to take this to at this morning and create a resume video cuz I know if there's a lot of questions out there about first day of school and what's going to happen so we wanted to get this out to you this morning and hopefully it will alleviate some of the questions that you have are super excited to be have you guys this year face-to-face and as the principal my goal is to I want to finish face to face the end of the year have Proms and all those kinds of things and hopefully we can all get there so we all follow the guidelines of accounts giving us hopefully that will help us get to it our goal of finishing face-to-face so we don't have to jump into a an online version of school like we had to last year so anyway start off with we wanted to share a quick video on how you enter the school so hang on just a second and I will pick you up a video what does students to Evanston High School home of the Red Devils I'm here to give The Ultimate Guide to DHS start the day do you have a temperature do you have shortness of if you said no to all of the questions you can't answer the door when a staff member will take your temperature if you have any symptoms WinCo directly to your first. Of the day or common the hallways will be split for traffic when traveling from class to class please wear your mask on the right side of the hall and get the class quickly when you arrive at your first. Of the day sit down six feet apart if possible if that doesn't this possible you may remove your mask if it is not please keep it on so you want to thank our student council for dinner they have a couple videos for us to share and they did an awesome job for us just one click for a point of clarification as you're coming in you'll be asked three or four questions on the QR code is you're coming in so we'll have it on the under the student tab on the website will have the QR length for you in case you don't have a phone so you can use your Chromebook and also the very last question that you will be asked is your temperature and so you won't know the answer to that question till you actually get your temperature taken by a staff member when you're done entering in the van. 98.6 or whatever your temperature is you'll actually hit submit and show the staff member that you just submitted it and reverse it as you complete that you're good to go and you can come on in on the first day of school hopefully you guys have access to PowerSchool help and most of you do but for those of you they're having issues with PowerSchool actually have somebody that will be down in the front office down in the Commons area and we will be handing out schedules hopefully we don't and out too many would prefer not to and then after you go there basically have two options in the mornings when you come as you have to either go directly to your class or you can go and eat breakfast and then go to class talk a little bit about the expectations for lunch I get another video that I want to share with you so hang on just one second schedule a h s will rotate which classes are taken on Mondays through this will not attend to 1st and 5th. On Tuesdays students won't attend 2nd and 6th Street on Wednesdays and 3rd and 7th. On Thursday students won't have for 38 on Friday students of all. I'm running Friday students lunches will be determined on if they're six. Class is upstairs or downstairs if it is downstairs you'll have a lunch and upstairs will have Patricia de Thursday if your 5th. Is downstairs you'll have a lunch before you go to the one slime please leave your backpack in one of the Cubbies provided lining up for lunch 26 feet apart from the lunch ladies and remember to say thank you cuz once ladies are freaking awesome and they have super powers to be typing your PIN to buy a lunch use a pencil the lunch lady handed type it in and hand it back then go to your table you can also meet at the cake Commons area and outdoor patio but eat your lunch six feet apart at Round Tables you have to sit across can only have 2 people per LG don't you have your lunch throw your trash and clean up your area and remain in your area and continue to social distance before the bell rings have a great year VHS anyway great video just a couple things there's going to be this balanced so we have to play and we we need to keep our distance and do all of those things during lunch so Juniors and seniors of course is going to they will have open campus like always are freshmen and sophomores will have closed campus and eat here at the school and we are going to open up basically the commentary in the top and the bottom to be able to eat pretty much anywhere you want and just go to space out and have fun now the challenge is going to be after you have lunch and so what we would ask is after lunch if you just trying to stay where you were where you ate lunch and hang out there and not be roaming around a lot and and so if you would help us with that we want to make sure that this is a fun place to be but we still need to file guidance of the public health we don't want to have an event covid prism here and just remember the goal is to finish face-to-face if you can help us out with that it's greatly appreciated some I'm going to quickly share a document with you and then mr. colors going to share a few things by students I just have a few items to share just to make the first speak little bit easier first office. Museum the screen is your connections document miss or less please share this with you and you'll continue to share it with you throughout the year you can see on there the first week the first week of school the first day we have our assembly schedule we're going to go to Second our first and then we'll go to advocacy I have an hour and part of that will be a video for my student council introducing our staff introducing themselves and kind of how the year is going to go also the first week of school on the second day August 25th we have pictures will call you out of class remember to wear nice clothes and be ready for that back to our schedule for the first two weeks you can see Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday we will have advocacy we're going to go the first six days during that time to make sure we get to know each other I will go over some policies and such and after that starting the third week at school you can see there on the 8th of September we start devil pridetime one change this year going to do devil Thai Time 3 days per week can I get a little bit more help for a classes and see if we can improve some things we will have advocacy one Tuesday per month so you can go back to homeroom and and talk about a few things are one other change of Hall Pass can you use yellow slips of paper for hall passes your kitchen will have to be the reason we're changing is to help us do contact tracing so you go to the get a hall-pass go to the restroom wherever you need to go return the class about your teacher and they'll hang on to those just in case we have Michelle Vasquez where everyone's been and then one last item sophomores your Chromebooks are not in yet we ordered those on July 1st with everything going on they haven't arrived and so bring your Chromebooks and then as soon as I was getting will get you the new ones you have any questions on that are or have any issues please come talk to Sonny office mister mister. nobody likes to where I'm going to be honest I hate wearing them but let's do it we need to do and just so you know the district is going to be providing a facemask is actually a turd every student in the whole District all 2700 student and so we will provide one of those but I don't believe they've come in yet so we need you to make sure you bring a face mask on the first day of the required when you come in and they're required in the hallways and then play the role as like it said in the video is you'll notice I don't have a face mask on and the reason is I don't have anybody in my office I don't have anybody within 6 feet if somebody were to come in my office and I put one off on out of respect without the last thing that I was the touch on his will you finish the school year last year was 737 students and right now we're about we had about 820 but usually that'll kind of experience I've learned that will probably start right around 800 really looking at 6270 more students in the school and why do I tell you that well past classes are going to be full and it's going to affect schedule changes so anybody that's really wanting a schedule change your chances of really getting a tell the class you want and vice-versa is slim to none because almost all of them are pretty full and what we can't do is really overload classes to wear it just presents more of an issue of the larger they are the more of a chance going to have to actually wear your mask and stuff and sore trying to keep everything manageable but many of our elective classes are completely full so anyway hopefully this video help will send it out this morning and hope you have a great weekend your last weekend before we come back yes, but we're so excited to see you face-to-face been a long time I've seen a lot of young Walmart around town and great to see you guys and we look forward to Monday so hopefully you are ready to come so anything missed I'll see you next week when I write you guys will see you next week
